When Georgia was born she was perfect. A relatively easy 3 1/2 hour labour had given us a perfectly healthy 7 1/2 pound baby girl who slept contentedly and nursed well - at least for the first ten days. Then everything went wrong.

It started in the car after a day out with Thomas the Tank Engine. Georgia started to vomit violently in her car seat and with no other symptoms of illness evident we were left to speculate on what could have caused the attack. Perhaps the forty five minute car ride from Vancouver to Squamish up the twisty Sea To Sky highway? Perhaps some flu bug that caused her stomach to eject its contents spontaneously? Or perhaps something was really wrong.

Our mid-wives were justifiably cautious in their guestimations as to what could have caused the problem, not wanting to over react, they offered the "let's wait and see" approach. But when the vomiting continued and Georgia's weight gain began to decline they decided it was time for an expert opinion.
